Chole Larcombe's Report:
On the 28th August 7O and 12 year 8 students along with Ms Stavros and Mrs Heap, had a great day checking out the sights of the city. First up we went to the Sydney Fish Markets. When we got off the bus we were greeted with a very fishy smell. Inside some people bought calamari and some of us were amazed at the live sea creatures in tanks. There were crabs, lobsters and of course fish, big ones too.
Second on the agenda was Hyde Park where we got to enjoy morning tea. Here we had to describe a stranger. One of the strangers was Mr Incredibubble who made huge bubbles. You could even go inside them. Matt Small, Lachlan Mc Ghie & Yianni Kazanis bought a quarter of a watermelon at the fruit shop in the fish markets and dropped it after two bites. It was a waste of $2.40. Anna, Simone, Christina and Helen were being surrounded by pigeons and with the help of Dylan’s Twisties they went away.
St Mary’s Cathedral was our next stop. Inside we had to write a story that would suit a horror movie or a romance novel.
We then went to the Botanical Gardens, where we also spotted bats. This was where we had our lunch. Most of us enjoyed some yummy ice cream and frolicked in the grass. We then did an exercise were we got to relax by listening to the sounds around us with our eyes closed.
We all had an enjoyable time with lots of great memories. A special thanks to Ms Stavros and Mrs Heap for organizing it and making our day so enjoyable.

Kirsty Garner's Report:
On Friday 28th August 2009 7O English and the Year 8 GAT class were invited to participate in a writing day excursion.
We went into Sydney CBD and participated in a series of different writing days in various areas of Sydney. Ms Stavros and Mrs Heap accompanied us.
We started at the fish markets, where we were asked to write an honest description of the market. Then we went to St Mary’s Cathedral and told to write a scene inside the Cathedral for a horror film and a romantic novel. Next we went to the Archibald Fountain, there we were required to observe a person (from a distance) and describe them – what they were doing/thinking/seeing from their point of view.
When we arrived at the botanical gardens, we had lunch and then told to relax, close our eyes and listen to all the sounds around us. When we opened our eyes, we had to write down all the sounds we heard. After that, the teachers realised we were running late and we had to power walk to the bus.
Overall, everyone had a good day. Here’s what some of the students liked about the excursion:
“I saw a really, really big gold fish in the Botanical Gardens” – Alija
“The banging on the roof of St Mary’s Cathedral really spooked us.” - Alex
